Start the season with a bike fit

This is the first of a series on Bike Fit. Look for future posts on bike fit topics from Aaron “Rambo” Harrison, Bike Gallery Fit Department Manager

It’s been a long, cold, gray winter, but finally spring has arrived and the sun is shining — well at least peeking from behind the clouds! You pull your trusty steed out and with the wind in your hair and the sun on your back, you end up going a little longer, or perhaps even a little harder than you had originally meant to when first rolling out on your ride. Feels great to be out enjoying your bike, but your body says, “Hey, something’s not right.”

Perhaps you’re getting reacquainted with your bike after several years out of the saddle. Or, you’re training for that first big event ride of the season that seems to be coming far faster than you expected when you signed up so many months ago. Late in the ride, or after you’ve returned home, you suffer some new (and some newly remembered) aches and pains. You love your bike, but something needs to be done if you are to be able to ride it consistently and comfortably. Numb hands, numb feet, sore neck, sore knees, sore back: all are indications that your bike is not optimally fit to your body. If you are experiencing any type of discomfort, you will benefit from a bike fit. That old “no pain no gain” adage just doesn’t apply to cycling.

That’s where the Bike Gallery’s Fit Department comes in. Our trained Fit Specialists can adjust your bike to better fit you, eliminating those aches and pains you’ve been tolerating. Bike Gallery is fortunate to employ many experienced fitters so you will benefit from the knowledge and experience that our team offers. We take into account your history as a cyclist (and an athlete), any injuries you’ve had that can affect your comfort on the bicycle, and listen to your goals as a cyclist to tailor your bike’s position to best suits your needs. Whether you’re looking to ride around the block, or around the country, a bike fit will make a difference in your comfort and efficiency.

Now is the perfect time to make an appointment to have you bike fit. Start the season with the best fitting bicycle and you allow your body time to accommodate to changes made to your position on the bike. If you have a big ride planned this season, whether it’s Seattle to Portland or Cycle Oregon, giving yourself some time to train on your newly fitted bicycle will not only make the event more fun, but it will improve your training experience too! Also, we guarantee your comfort for one year in most of our fit packages, so having your fit done early in the season allows time for adjustments and fine tuning if the need arises.

Our ultimate goal is for the bike to all but disappear underneath you. While we can’t guarantee that you won’t be sore after that long ride, we do guarantee that you won’t be in any pain.
