Our Urban Assault Ride Haiku Contest has concluded and we’ve selected a winner: Peter Koonce.
We’re thrilled that Peter was selected at random as the winner; we’ve known him as a good customer and loyal bike commuter for some time. He often stops for coffee on the third Thursday of each month when the Downtown Bike Gallery crew serves up java and bike repairs for morning commuters. He and whole his family were also along for our Madsen St. Patrick’s Day Green ride in March. He didn’t win the grand prize that day (a Madson Utility bike) but today is his lucky day.
Peter has won free entry for himself and his teammate in the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride: the biggest bike scavenger hunt in the world! The Urban Assault Ride returns to Portland on May 31, 2009. We think Peter has a pretty good chance of winning; as a professional transportation engineer I think his route planning abilities and knowledge of bike infrastructure will give him a real edge!
The Haiku that gave Peter the edge in our contest reads:
Go By Bike they say
Urban assault ride, hooray
Drink Fat Tire all day
You too can join the Urban Assault Ride fun. Did I mention that the event benefits the Bicycle Transportation Alliance? That’s a great cause and a good reason to grab a friend, your bikes, and take on the challenge. Who knows, May 31 may be your lucky day—and the lucky winners on that day win a pair of New Belgium Brewing cruiser bikes. That’s a sweet prize. But sign up soon, pre-registration is required.
Good luck Peter—ride smart, ride fast; we’ll be cheering for you on May 31!
