2012 Wine Ride

2013 Children’s Heart Foundation Wine Rides – Sponsored by Bike Gallery

Our popular Children’s Heart Foundation Wine Rides are back for another season! Join us this summer for one of our popular annual wine rides, featuring quiet, rural roads, acclaimed Northern Willamette Valley wineries and beautiful wine country. Both tours are fully supported and include a gourmet lunch, wine-tasting and are capped at 100 riders. Rides are approximately 30-35 miles of rolling terrain. With activities such as bike poker, these intimate rides are all about fun and merriment and there is no shame in catching the “sag wagon” up an occasional hill!

100% of the profits will be donated to the Oregon Chapter of the Children’s Heart Foundation.

Paid, pre-registration is required for all rides. The registration fee is not refundable. However, participants can transfer their entry to a friend or relative, up to the day of the ride.

Learn about the Organizer, Kelly Aicher:

(As printed in the Portland Business Journal, February 17, 2008) Kelly Aicher knows that a few years can make a world of difference in the development of cardiac therapies. Aicher, a manager of the Bike Gallery in Lake Oswego (Now Co-Owner and general manager of The Bike Gallery), had surgery for a congenital heart defect at Oregon Health & Science University as a 3-year-old. “If I had needed that operation four years earlier, I wouldn’t be here today,” said Aicher, now 38. “That’s how big a difference there was in procedures between 1969 and 1973. So I feel pretty lucky.” Aicher, who ran his first marathon last year, is one of the approximately 1 million U.S. adults living with a congenital heart defect. Thanks to improving surgical techniques and therapy, the number of adults living with this condition increases 5 percent a year. A recent addition to the CHF-Oregon board is Aicher, who said he decided there wasn’t a better way for him to get involved in the community than to help fund research into something that saved his life.
